Day Two Through

What a different and eye-opening experience.

This morning we went to church at a church plant here in Bellevue, Washington, called Essential Church.

Lemme just break down for y’all what a normal Sunday in the life of this church looks like-

First of all, it’s important for me to tell you that they don’t actually have their own church building.

They meet in a Boys and Girls Club here in town which means that they TRANSFORM that place every Sunday.

When we got there at 7:30am, we helped do everything from put out chairs to make coffee to plug in audio cords.

They LITERALLY have to set up and tear down church every single Sunday. And they’ve been doing this for three years. This was just so eye-opening to me.

How often do we take for granted that we literally just walk into church, sit down, sing some songs, listen to the message, then leave. Absolutely no work involved.

These people are the total opposite.

Their church wouldn’t happen if they didn’t get there theee hours early and set everything up.

They have it down to a T though. Everyone knows what closets to find everything in, where to put everything, and what order to set everything up in.

They all have jobs they do and teamwork makes the dream work.

I was honestly so. impressed.

And also, I was so incredibly thankful for what I have been given in a church. I take so much for granted. These people truly exemplify what it means to be devoted to a church and be willing to do anything to make it work.

So we helped set up church, went to their first church service and then cooked lunch while their second service was going on!

The guys grilled outside:

And Erica and I helped out with the kids’ Sunday school class:

After church and lunch, we helped clean everything up (which is no small feat) and then headed back to the hotel!

The rest of the evening we just hung out as a team.

We played cards again (of course, what else do we do in free time?) and then went to get dinner at a super yummy seafood place.

At the end of the day, a couple of us tried to do some homework, but we got off track (of course) and ended up talking about Jesus for almost two and a half hours.

But heck, I’d rather do that than homework ANY DAY.

We went to bed quite worn out and with not any more homework done than when we had started.

So thankful for today and for what the Lord is doing in and through us.

Read on.
